The paintings exhibited in Rouen constitute a “Tomb”, that is to say, a tribute – as it is done in music and poetry – to Simone de Beauvoir, a great figure of literature and feminism who was a professor of philosophy in Rouen between 1932 and 1937. The Tomb of Simone de Beauvoir counts about fifteen paintings that take part in an installation (wallpaper, podium, objects, fanzine…). A great figure of female emancipation in the twentieth century, Simone de Beauvoir appears under the brush of Nina Childress in different aspects of her life that were pinpointed as contradictory and scandalous.
