His creative context is that of the 1990s, years of crisis, of collective and individual trauma linked to the AIDS virus, but also years of artistic effervescence in Nice, where he is close to the Villa Arson art school and center then directed by Christian Bernard. His friends include artists Jean-Luc Blanc, Brice Dellsperger, Natacha Lesueur, Marie- Ève Mestre, Jean-Luc Verna and “patron” artists like Ben. He had his first exhibition in 1993 at Art:Concept in Nice.
Bruno Pélassy did not go to art school, but trained in textiles and jewelry, which led him to work for the jeweller Swarovski. He borrows his processes, shaping techniques and materials from haute couture. DIY blends with meticulous glass and crystal work, and jewelry-making rubs shoulders with the creation of cheap mechanical bugs.
